PASSIONIST ORPHANAGE
Caring for Abandoned Children in Tonga, Kenya
The Passionist Orphanage in Tonga, a remote village in western Kenya, was founded to care for children who have lost their parents to AIDS, are living in extreme poverty, or have been abandoned. As a home for 30 children ranging in age from 4 to 17 years, the needs of the orphanage are great. Over 500 children have applied. With a donation, you can “adopt” a child for one year. You will also be helping the orphanage feed, educate, and improve the lives of even more children.

THE HOPE SCHOLARSHIP
Providing College Grants to Gifted Disadvantaged Students
Each year our partner missionaries in Kenya identify promising local secondary students who aspire to become professionals – teachers, nurses, doctors, political leaders, engineers – but whose families cannot afford college tuition and fees. The Hope Scholarship Fund of Kenya provides financial assistance throughout four years of college. The most needy and promising students are selected through a defined application process. Through this scholarship fund you can change the course of a young person’s life forever.

Rafiki Project
Supporting Education of Children
in Arusha, Tanzania
The goal of the Rafiki Project, an initiative of the Passionist missionaries in Arusha, Tanzania, is to educate children by providing training to widows and single mothers of poor households who are the sole supporters for their families. The training allows these mothers to earn a modest income that affords their children the ability to acquire basic education. The Africa Student Fund has purchased an incubator for hatching eggs, enabling the women to sell baby chicks and raise chickens for selling eggs. We also directly fund children’s school fees, basic health care, rental assistance, food and clean water. Your donation will be used to support these life-changing projects.

VOCATIONAL SEWING PROGRAM
Empowering Young Women in Karungu, Kenya
Founded in 1999, the sewing school has graduated hundreds of young women from poor villages in western Kenya – lifting them out of poverty by equipping them with skills needed to start a career in the apparel industry. This 2½ year training program, offering free tuition and housing to young women, is funded through donations and from the sale of garments. Your gift will help sustain this program and empower these young women to generate a steady income for themselves and their families.
